The Noginsk Museum of Local Lore was established in December 1927 on the basis of the collection of the Bogorodsky Lomonosov Institute of Local Lore, headed by Professor Uspensky. The basis of the art collection consists of the masters of painting in Russia at the end of the XVIII — beginning of the XX century. It is one of the rich and rare collections of paintings kept in provincial museums. The collection contains works by I.K. Aivazovsky, I.I. Levitan, A.S. Stepanov, V.V. Perebravchikov, N.V. Dosekin, S.Y. Zhukovsky, I.A. Strelkovsky, Kaufman, Grutzner. The museum's collection was replenished with household items and ethnography, a natural science collection, documents and photographs (pre-revolutionary and Soviet periods). The museum has more than 15,000 exhibits in storage.
The museum's foundation exhibits are collections of documents and objects attesting to the formation and operation of textile enterprises in the city (Bogorodsky district).
The collection of photographs stored in the museum is very diverse — the architecture of the city, factory construction, photographs from the period of the Great Patriotic War, the history of sports, medicine, education, household portrait, Bogorodsky surnames (total more than 3 thousand exhibits).
The museum is located in a building built in 1911 on the Market Square of Bogorodsk.
